Guys! And gals! I just got called back about that delivery driver job. I got it! First day should be Thursday! But I'm still searching for a job at a hospital. But for now this is awesome! With tips and gas money I should be making 15-20 an hour! New car here I come!

I read somewhere that you're better off buying a high mileage 997.1 than a low mileage car. It said that the engine issue that some of the 997.1 cars have is a lot less likely to happen if it's driven regularly than if it's a garage queen.
Dunno if that's true but pretty cool if it is because it means that the less expensive cars are actually the safer ones to buy!

What will you be delivering in your new used Porsche? Hopefully not food, you'll never get the smell out.

Lol no that's the goal!

Yeah I've seen that too. But I don't see that being 100% true. You might get stuck with a high mileage time bomb

Just get a PPI done and pray for the best!

Wow it's literally my car! Same wheels and everything.
But much confused - why is the steering wheel different? This is definitely a 997.2. And it's not an upgraded wheel that has stereo controls on it. It's a plain Jane wheel like mine. But it looks different. And older. Looks more like a 997.1 wheel

It is a 997.1 wheel. They used those old wheels on the 09s also for some reason. The new one looks much better.

I did not know this! Now I feel good about having a 2010. Thanks!
At least this one looks better than a 996 wheel. The 996 wheel deserves to die.

Most (if not all) of the 996 deserves to die.

nooooooo!
what about the 996 GT3?
and the 996 Turbo?
they were epic! way ahead of their times

There was an awesome Turbo on Carmax, but it has an auto :(
![]() 07/07/2014 at 21:02 |

Why, whyyyyyyyyy???
Was it really cheap at least??
![]() 07/07/2014 at 21:02 |

$50k. How about wow
![]() 07/07/2014 at 21:04 |

Not cheap enough
If it was $26,000.39 then you could buy it. Anytime someone gave you shit for having an automatic turbo you could say "bro it only cost twenty six thousand dollars and thirty nine fucking cents"

That's seriously the only thing you need to say. I'd just get a giant decal that says that and put it on the car.
![]() 07/07/2014 at 21:07 |
|
also you'd need to get giant DEAL WITH IT sunglasses for the car itself

the IMS almost always blows while the car is at a lower mileage. If you get a car over 60k+ you're pretty guaranteed to be good on the IMS. I bought both our boxsters with high mileage because of that. PPI won't catch IMS issues, they have to drop the motor and pull the IMS cover/bearing/whatever to see if the seals are shot (at least I've never heard of a PPI going that in depth)
that being said...mmmmmmmmm 997

Thats good to know. Thanks. What year boxsters? And never any major issues? I really want a Porsche. I just don't want it to screw me over lol

ack thought I hit reply. Kinja?
Both 99s. Mine ran like a champ for the 3years and 40k mi. I had it. Just changed the oil, belt and brakes, I think I had one regular maintenance cycle in there but it wasn't outrageous. Do the brakes and oil yourself, its just like doing a chevy and you don't have to pay porsche mechanic prices. I had one random issue with the AC or something but that was it. Wife's was a total lemon but that was half self-inflicted...
